# Track your tools, paints, and supplies in plamotrack

> Track tools, consumables, upgrade parts, and display gear in four catalogs. Set low-stock thresholds and record which upgrade parts went on which kit.

plamotrack tracks four separate inventory catalogs so you know what you have, what you're running low on, and what you've applied to builds. Each catalog is shaped for a different kind of item — the rules that make sense for a pot of cement are different from the rules for an action base.

## The four catalogs

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="Tools" icon="wrench">
    Nippers, scribers, panel-lining pens, sanding sticks. Counted but not consumed — your Godhand isn't going anywhere.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Consumables" icon="flask">
    Paints, cement, decal softener, sandpaper. Can carry a low-stock threshold — plamotrack warns you when you're nearly out before the hobby shop closes.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Upgrades" icon="puzzle-piece">
    Aftermarket details, resin parts, photo-etch. Can be applied to a specific kit, which decrements stock and records what went where.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Display" icon="display">
    Action bases, system stands, diorama scenery. Counted and categorised, but deliberately **not** linked to specific kits — a stand under one model this week is under another next week.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

The four tabs on the **Inventory** page use the same names.

## Adding an item

For something you already own — a first stocktake, a gift, a tool bought before you started tracking — add it straight to its catalog:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Pick the catalog">
    Open **Inventory** in the sidebar and choose the **Tools**, **Consumables**, **Upgrades** or **Display** tab.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Describe the item">
    Click the add button — **Add tool**, **Add consumable**, **Add upgrade** or **Add display item**, matching the tab. Enter a **Name**, a **Category** and the **Quantity on hand**. A consumable can also take a **Low-stock threshold**, an upgrade a **Manufacturer**, and a display item a **Scale**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Click **Add**. The item appears in that tab. Use the **−** and **+** buttons on its row to adjust the count later, or its edit control to change details.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Items bought on an order

For a purchase, add the item as a line on the order instead — see [Add an order](/using/kits-and-orders#add-an-order). The order form's picker searches your existing catalog as you type: choose the match, and its stock is added when the order arrives.

This is intentional. Give a naming-things-at-11pm hobbyist a free text field and within a month you'll own "GM02 Gundam Marker", "Gundam Marker GM02", and "gm02 marker" as three separate stock entries. The picker matches against your existing catalog names and keeps everything consistent. If the item genuinely doesn't exist yet, the picker offers to create it with a proper name, then and there.

## Low-stock thresholds

On any consumable, set an optional low-stock threshold. When your on-hand quantity drops to or below that number, plamotrack shows the count in red with a **restock** tag beside it. You see the warning while you still have time to order more — not when you're uncapping a bottle that's already dry.

To set a threshold, open the consumable's edit dialog and enter a number in the **Low-stock threshold** field. Leave it blank for items you're not tracking closely.

## Applying upgrade parts

When an aftermarket part goes on a build, record it:

1. Open **Inventory** and choose the **Upgrades** tab.
2. On the part's row, click **Apply to kit**. Choose the **Kit** and the **Quantity**, then click **Apply**.

This decrements the part's stock by that quantity and records which kit it went on and when. The record shows under **Applied upgrades** whenever you edit that kit.

</Frame>

To undo it, edit the kit, find the part under **Applied upgrades** and click **Withdraw…**. plamotrack asks whether the stock comes back: **Withdraw — return to stock** if the part physically survived, or **Withdraw — stock stays spent** if it was used or damaged. Useful when you decided against a detail-up, or pulled a part from a scrapped build.

## Orders and stock

Stock from an order is added when you record its arrival. A pending order for Tamiya Extra Thin does not count as on hand. When it arrives, open **Edit order**, fill in **Received on**, and click **Save changes**. See [record shipping and arrival](/using/kits-and-orders#record-shipping-and-arrival).

This is why the inventory page can show 0 on hand for something you ordered last week — look at your In Transit orders, and it'll be there.

<Tip>
  Scale and category on display gear let you filter your stock meaningfully. "All my 1/144 action bases" is an answerable question — as long as you fill in the scale when you add the item.
